To make things easier for you, we’ve compiled the questions we get most often here below...but if we missed yours, just comment below and we’ll be happy to help.
Does Rasa taste like coffee?
We’ve worked very hard to make something this healthy actually taste delicious. We describe it as “dark, rich, roasty, and smooth with a hint of cinnamon.” Some of our customers say it tastes just like coffee, others say it doesn’t, we think it’s somewhere in between!
Does it contain coffee?
Nope! (But you can mix it with your coffee if you’re looking to add some health benefits to your cup! Many of our customers love it this way!)
How is Rasa energizing if there is no caffeine?
The herbs Eleuthero and Rhodiola are the main components of our blend that have an energizing and uplifting effect. Eleuthero has been used for millennia in Chinese medicine (TCM) to invigorate qi (chi) or vital energy. It is also commonly prescribed for adrenal fatigue! More recently, it has been used in the West to support athletic performance ranging from deep-sea diving to mountain climbing at high elevations.
Rhodiola is not only an energizing tonic that bolsters endurance, it is considered sacred by Asian and Russian cultures, and is well known for its ability to reduce cortisol (stress hormone) levels and help relieve anxiety.
Will Rasa keep me up at night?
Rasa shouldn’t keep you up at night. The herbs are energizing and uplifting but do not stave off sleep as caffeine does. That being said, everyone is different and Rasa is designed for morning/afternoon consumption.
Is Rasa gluten free?
Yes! We are not certified GF yet but it is made in a 100% gluten-free facility and has no gluten-containing ingredients.
Is there any sugar in Rasa?
Are your herbs sustainably harvested and organic?
We are obsessive about sustainability, and that takes many forms...but perhaps most notably is that after much research and having to reformulate our product significantly, we made the shift from wildcrafted Chaga (which is widely over-harvested and increasingly unsustainable) to cultivated Chaga mycelium (which is fully sustainable and done on domestic farms).
Our Chinese herbs are sourced from one of the most reputable organic farm collectives in China, are never treated with sulfites (like many Chinese herbs are), and are extensively tested for contaminants and heavy metals.
All of our herbs are certified organic.
Is your packaging compostable?
Yes/And! There are few fully compostable options available, and we did not find any that met our necessary criteria for functionality and compostability, so we went with the next-best-in-class. Our bags are 60% compostable, and 40% biodegradable, meaning they will completely break down in a few years' time. Our packaging company is at work on a fully-compostable version coming soon, and we bug them to hurry up on this pretty much weekly. :)
Is Rasa safe for pregnancy/breastfeeding?
The official FDA-sanctioned answer is no. Many of the herbs in Rasa do not have enough information for the FDA-blessing. However, we did have our formula vetted by 4 herbalists, all of whom saw no major contraindications, including pregnancy or breastfeeding. In fact, our two main Ayurvedic herbs are often prescribed for pregnancy and breastfeeding.
